Dr. Ai-Lean Chew is a highly qualified Dermatologist with extensive experience in the field. She obtained her medical qualification in 1997 and currently serves as a Consultant Dermatologist at Skin 55 and an NHS Consultant Dermatologist at the King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London.
Her training in dermatology involved clinical positions at prestigious institutions such as the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, and St John's Institute of Dermatology at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London. Dr. Chew furthered her expertise with a research post and visiting fellowship at the University of San Francisco, California. During her time in California, she made substantial contributions to the field of contact dermatitis, collaborating with her mentor, Prof Howard Maibach. She also co-edited a textbook titled 'Irritant Dermatitis,' reflecting her commitment to advancing dermatological knowledge.
Dr. Chew's research interests also include scarring alopecia, where she has collaborated with renowned experts in the field, including Dr. Fenton and Prof. Vera Price. She held an Honorary Consultant post at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in the Hair & Nails service.
Dr. Chew welcomes referrals for various dermatological concerns, including mole checks, skin cancers, benign skin growths, skin surgery (including non-invasive laser procedures), inflammatory skin conditions (such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis), dry skin conditions, and hair/scalp conditions (such as alopecia areata and scarring alopecias).
