Dr Wseem Bakkour, Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatological Surgeon, currently works at University College London Hospital and sees patients privately in several London-based clinics. He is highly specialised in all aspects of dermatology including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and other skin rashes. He is also highly skilled in performing a wide range of dermatological procedures including Mohs micrographic surgery (gold-standard for skin cancers), biopsies, and mole screenings.
Dr Bakkour completed his general medical training in 2010, he was given membership to the Royal College of Physicians. Following this, he then began his specialist training in dermatology in Manchester within a highly prestigious unit. He was later added to the General Medical Council Specialist Register of Dermatologists. He then underwent a highly prestigious 18-month fellowship at the dermatology centre in Manchester in advanced dermatological and reconstructive surgery, lasers and cosmetic dermatology. Additionally, he further developed his skills abroad by working within the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital in the USA.
Dr Bakkour is one of a few doctors in the UK who have had formal training in lasers, he can use them for a variety of conditions including scarring (including acne scarring), tattoo and pigment removal, thread veins, and rejuvenation. He is also able to provide numerous cosmetic procedures like Botox, fillers, micro needling, dermabrasion, and chemical peels.
Dr Bakkour is a highly active researcher, with a keen interest in clinical and cosmetic applications of lasers, skin cancer and dermatological surgery. He has a very impressive publication history and is regularly invited to present at conferences around the globe. He is also an engaged teacher, taking on the responsibility to supervise and train junior doctors, medical students, and international fellows. He also holds the position of a faculty member and invited speaker for an MSc in Skin Aging and Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Manchester.
